We’re Rollin, They’re Hatin’ was a huge, month long, Dungeons and Dragons based art show that happened in Chicago from April 20th to May 20th. My friend Riley, who is also the Dungeon Master in the AMAZING fantasy television series, Dungeon Majesty, filled me in on it this weekend. There’s just so much to talk about, it’s almost overwhelming!
Basically, they got together over 30 amazing artists like the aforementioned Dungeon Majesty, Noah Butkus, Maya Hayuk, Cody Hudson, Paper Rad, Little Friends of Printmaking, Steven Harrington, and Justin Kreitemeyer.
I wish I would have been able to see this, it looks like it would be such a fuckin’ blast!
You can check out lots of pictures of the show at Stugrock’s Flickr, and the Little Friends of Printmaking have a set up as well!
They also had their t-shirts printed by Threadless, which are still on sale, so go by some! Your mother would love one!
You can also get the catalog and show zine which is printed on 17 x 22″ newsprint in purple ink! It has artwork from 17 of the artists in the show, and looks like it would be so rad. And it’s only $5!
I hate all of those guys from National Forest.
Okay, that’s actually not true at all, I’m insanely jealous of all of the rad projects they do. Justin Kreitemeyer is one of them, and he’s an absolute slice of amazing. Above is one of the designs he worked on for a demolition derby he was a part of. That’s just pink house paint on the car! So simple, and so effective.
Fecal Face has some new t-shirts over at Umbrella Market featuring the work of Travis Millard and Jeremy Fish! I almost bought Travis MIllard’s new book this weekend at Secret Headquarters, but now I’ll buy his t-shirt to tide me over till then. Catch The Gigabytes Indeed.
I found this really beautiful picture of the northern lights taken from space and thought I’d share it. Happy Sunday everyone!
Just wanted to remind everyone to check out the Parking Lot Art Show tomorrow night! It starts at 5 at the Sunset Junction, there will be 8 amazing artists displaying their works inside of big ‘ol moving trucks, secret surprise performances AND free wine! I also forgot to mention that I wrote an interview with my friend Eric about the show for LAist! Go read it!
+Google Map of where it’s at!
The creators of the Adult Swim cartoon Robot Chicken have teamed up with George Lucas to create a ton of hysterical Star wars parody videos in the Robot Chicken style. The best is you can watch the whole thing online. It’s seriously amazing, but probably only because I’m a huge Star Wars nerd… I heart Adult Swim & Robot Chicken & Star Wars 4 Life!

I’ve decided that today is just an illustration kind of day, so maybe I’ll have Illustration Fridays? Probably not, but I’ll throw it out there anyway… The guy above, Rey Ortega, commented to tell me that he liked my all of my illustrators I put up, and what do you know? The dude himself is an awesome artist! The picture above is from his business card, with all of his contact info on the back of it. How rad is that?! And check out those colors… they make me very jealous, for the reason that I would never think of mixing them together. Keep up the good work Rey!
Okay, so posters don’t count as illustrations, they’re more design-y right? Right. Ugly Bogus is Shane Long and Rob Stanton, who make really awesome posters for some really great bands and companies. Most of their posters are for sale too, just shoot ’em an e-mail and let ’em know what you want!
