So, this is pretty cool.
Paleontologists recently found a fossil thigh bone of a Tyrannosaurus that was so well preserved that scientists could actually isolate proteins from the sample. By comparing the proteins found in the T. rex to proteins in other animals, scientists were able to see which animal the T. rex’s proteins most closely resemble. And, tah-frickin’-dah, the protein was almost spot on with that of a chicken, showing “the first molecular evidence of this link between birds and dinosaurs.”
Just something to think about next time you have KFC.
